ZOAHARIAN.COM - The DPR/MPR RI Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, will become a gathering point for a number of community and student groups on Thursday (27/8/2026). At least four groups are scheduled to convey their aspirations with different demands.

The four groups are the United Pati Community Alliance (AMPB), the United Depok Community Alliance (AMDB), the Alliance for the Popular Movement (GERAM), and the Madurese Volunteers Guarding President Prabowo's Program (RMP4).

If the three groups brought a number of criticisms of government and DPR policies, RMP4 actually came with a different agenda: providing support for President Prabowo Subianto's programs, including Free Nutritious Meals (MBG).

AMPB Urges the Asset Confiscation Bill to Be Ratified Immediately

AMPB brought two main demands, namely urging the DPR RI to immediately pass the Corruptor Asset Confiscation Bill and requesting the implementation of the death penalty for corruptors.

They also asked the DPR to provide a written statement regarding their commitment to speed up the ratification of the bill.

Apart from the issue of eradicating corruption nationally, AMPB also highlighted allegations of corruption involving Pati Regency Government officials. One of the cases of concern is the case involving the Regent of Pati Sudewo regarding allegations of bribery and corruption on the railway project of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

The representative of the AMPB Advocacy Team, Vander Waruwu, emphasized that the action they carried out was a peaceful action.

"We remain consistent, we carry out peaceful actions," stressed Vander.

AMPB Coordinator Supriyono alias Botok also dismissed the notion that the action was aimed at overthrowing the Prabowo-Gibran government.

According to him, the focus of the masses was to convey two main demands to the DPR.

"There will be no ousting of Prabowo-Gibran. We support the government to make it better," he said.

AMDB Highlights Corruption to Basic Food Prices

Meanwhile, AMDB brought three demands in their action.

First, urge the DPR to immediately pass the Asset Confiscation Bill. Second, asking for the death penalty for corruptors. Third, urge the government to reduce the prices of basic necessities.

AMDB Action Coordinator Yusuf said that around 2,000 residents were previously planned to hold an action at the Depok City DPRD Office on Wednesday (26/8/2026). After that, they joined the AMPB crowd to convey their aspirations in front of the Indonesian DPR Building.

AMDB also highlighted the problem of delays in account transactions used to collect donations from Pati residents.

RAGE Bring 10 Claims

The group with the longest list of demands is Alliance of People's Demand Movement (GERAM).

GERAM brought 10 demands, ranging from political, economic, education, health, to worker protection issues.

Here are the claims of FURIOUS:

1. Put Prabowo-Gibran on trial and demand political and legal accountability for policies deemed to expand militarism, weaken democracy and increase economic inequality.




2. Stop the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) and the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, while evaluating budget transparency and potential political patronage.




3. Stop tax policies that are considered oppressive to the people and encourage a progressive tax system for large capital owners.




4. Realize free, scientific and quality education and health, including rejecting campus commercialization and budget cuts for basic services.




5. Reducing the price of basic necessities and increasing labor wages.




6. Designate the disaster in Sumatra and NTT as a national disaster and speed up aid and recovery of affected areas.




7. Guarantee the rights of domestic workers, including legal protection, living wages and humane working hours.




8. Implement demilitarization and stop the construction of battalions.




9. Stop the criminalization of activists and release all political prisoners.




10. Confiscate corrupt assets for the purposes of education, health and disaster recovery.

GERAM is said to consist of various elements, including UNUSIA, Open University, Trilogy University, Indonesian Students' Union, College of Philosophy students, Political Prisoners' Union, youth organizations and civil society communities.

GERAM Action Coordinator Ahmad Mixel said the action was a form of public supervision of the legislative, supervisory and budget functions of the DPR RI.

GERAM estimates that around 1,000 people will take part in the action which is scheduled to start at 14.00 WIB. They also asked the leadership of the DPR RI to come directly to meet the masses for dialogue.

RMP4 Instead Came to Bring Support for Prabowo

Amid a wave of criticism, RMP4 took a different position.

This group plans to come to Jakarta to voice support for a number of President Prabowo Subianto's programs. They prepared around 500 departure tickets from Bangkalan, East Java, to Jakarta.

One of the programs they support is Free Nutritious Meals (MBG).

RMP4 Coordinator Ali said the program was considered to provide benefits to the community because children received nutritious food every day. According to him, the program should not be stopped, but its management should be improved.

"So, the program is not being stopped, but the governance is being improved so that this program can really run better," said Ali.

The RMP4 crowd is said to come from various backgrounds, ranging from pedicab drivers, laborers, coolies, craftsmen, drivers, to salespeople.

The journey of the Pati Mass was marked by a number of obstacles

Ahead of the action, the AMPB crowd's journey to Jakarta was also marked by a number of problems.

Polda Metro Jaya previously requested a postponement of account transactions used by AMPB to accommodate public donations from Friday (21/8/2026).

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto explained that this step was not blocking accounts, but rather delaying transactions for five working days for the purposes of investigating the flow of funds. The police also involved the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Ministry of Social Affairs.

As long as the account cannot be used, aid for the Pati masses will continue to be collected directly through the post in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building.

Apart from that, AMPB Coordinator Teguh Istianto said four buses carrying around 200 Pati residents were stopped by authorities after leaving the Pati area on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

AMPB also reported other incidents on the trip. A bus carrying 17 people from Pati was said to have been pelted with stones from the pedestrian bridge (JPO) on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 54-56 toll road, Karawang.

Vander said two people wearing closed clothing and masks allegedly threw paving blocks at the bus. The incident caused three people to suffer minor injuries due to broken glass.

AMPB also admitted to facing other obstacles, including Botok's TikTok and WhatsApp accounts being inaccessible as well as the sudden cancellation of group buses from Central Java.

However, they stated that these various obstacles did not dampen their action plans.

The situation in front of the DPR has heated up

Preparations for the action on Wednesday (26/8/2026) afternoon were also filled with tension.

The AMPB crowd together with a number of online motorcycle taxi drivers gathered at the post to arrange logistical assistance from the community. The situation then changed after around 20 people from the Jakarta Civil Society Alliance arrived using a command car.

The group appealed to people who came to Jakarta not to cause chaos while taking part in the August 27 action.

This call received a response from a number of motorbike taxi drivers who were at the location. Tensions escalated to the point that police set up barricades to separate the two groups and prevent clashes.

The Jakarta Civil Society Alliance then disbanded and moved towards Senayan Park Mall. The action lasted about 20 minutes.

AMPB crowd left the location after negotiations

On Wednesday night, AMPB representatives also negotiated with the police regarding the presence of the crowd in front of the Indonesian DPR Building.

After dialogue with the Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Police Commissioner Dr. Reynold Elisa Partomuan Hutagalung, the AMPB group is ready to leave the location.

AMPB representatives asked that the personnel using tear gas be disbanded.

Reynold agreed to this request.

After an agreement was reached, the logistics of the action were moved from in front of the main gate to the sidewalk on the side of the gate. Some motorbike taxi drivers remain at the location to maintain the community's logistical assistance.

The AMPB group bus then left the location at around 20.12 WIB.

Police Tighten Access to Jakarta

Anticipating the arrival of masses from various regions, the police tightened surveillance on a number of routes to Jakarta.

Supervision was carried out starting from the Merak-Tangerang Toll Road, Jalan Raya Serang, the entrance to the Bekasi area, terminals, to the train station.

Tangerang Police have increased patrols on the Merak-Tangerang Toll Road and Serang Highway to anticipate mass movements from Lampung and the Sumatra region.

Four Groups, Four Voices

AMPB and AMDB emphasize demands on eradicating corruption, the Asset Confiscation Bill, punishment for corruptors, and economic issues. GERAM carries a much broader agenda with 10 political and social demands. Meanwhile, RMP4 comes with a different voice, namely maintaining and improving government programs, especially MBG.
