Gedung Sate Park Changes Name, The Philosophy of Pasanggrahan Pancarasa Makes You Curious

ZOAHARIAN.COM - The West Java Provincial Government officially opened the Gedung Sate park area, Bandung City, to the general public after the revitalization process was completed. The area previously known as the Gedung Sate courtyard now has a new name, Pasanggrahan Pancarasa.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said that the name Pasanggrahan Pancarasa is not just a new identity, but has a philosophy related to the five human senses.

"We have five tastes. Having eyes must see, having ears must hear, having a nose you must suck, having a tongue you must speak, having a heart you must be sincere," said Dedi, reported by Kompas.com, Tuesday (18/8/2026).

According to Dedi, the area also has historical value. Since the past, the Panggrahan area has been known as a gathering place for people who come from various regions of the kingdom.

"Pasanggrahan is a gathering place, a square. In the past, when people gathered at Pasanggrahan, people used horses from the royal area," said Dedi.

Now, after the revitalization is complete, Pasanggrahan Pancarasa has been opened as a space that can be enjoyed by the public. Residents can use this area to relax and enjoy the atmosphere around Gedung Sate.

However, Dedi asked the public to help maintain the various facilities that have been built. One thing that is of concern is the grass area which still needs to be maintained.

"It's opened, but don't step on the grass," he advised.

Dedi Mulyadi apologizes for road closures

Apart from the inauguration of the Pasanggrahan Pancarasa area, Dedi Mulyadi also responded to various community responses during the Gedung Sate revitalization process.

He expressed his appreciation to the public who provided support or criticism of government policies.

"I say thank you, not only those who responded positively, but also those who criticized me," he stressed.

Dedi also apologized to the public whose activities were affected by the closure of a number of roads around Gedung Sate on Monday (17/8/2026).

The closure of traffic flow was carried out to support the series of ceremonies commemorating the seconds of the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Indonesia and the lowering of the red and white flag ceremony.

He understands that this traffic engineering has disrupted the mobility of residents. However, according to him, this policy is needed to ensure that the entire series of activities run in an orderly manner while providing comfort for the people present in the Gedung Sate area.

"There must be someone who feels that their activities have been disturbed. We apologize, and everything is done for the comfort of all residents present in the Gedung Sate or Pasanggrahan Pancarasa courtyard area," he concluded.

With the opening of Pasanggrahan Pancarasa, the Gedung Sate courtyard is now not only part of the West Java government icon, but also a public space which is expected to be a place for people to gather and enjoy the atmosphere of the center of Bandung City.
